FAQ

When purchasing Mims garden pottery you can be assured that each piece is covered by our 10-year frost proof guarantee to withstand cold temperatures. It is important that the pots are well drained during freezing weather conditions.

In the unlikely event that your item should suffer from frost damage, simply return your product to the stockist where it was purchased along with your receipt as proof of purchase and we will replace the item.

With over 37 years experience in supplying garden pottery and the widest range of outdoor planters in the UK, we are committed to providing our customers with the highest quality frost proof pots that will outlast many others whilst still looking as good as the day they were purchased. We work closely with our manufacturers from around the world and have built long lasting relationships to ensure the quality.

When choosing frost proof, you are getting a robust pot that will survive any amount of frost and withstand sudden or prolonged drops in temperature. Our pots are made to withstand the worst weather including constant freeze-thaw actions, providing the pot has sufficient drainage and pot feet are used.

Our clay pots are fired to the highest temperatures and cooled slowly to produce a pot that is less porous, ensuring its frost proof properties when combined with proper drainage and pot feet.

Mims Saucer and Pot Feet information

The importance of pot feet should not be overlooked when caring for your pots. When water is left to sit and freeze at the base, the expansion can cause the pot to split and break. Using our pot feet will ensure adequate drainage and prevent pots from freezing against flat surfaces. You will find a range of matching feet to suit the style of your chosen pot. We recommend using 3 feet per round pot and 4 feet for square planters.

Our other top tips to consider:

• Placing crocks in the base to aid drainage and promote healthy root growth.

• Choosing the correct size pot for your plant. Some root bound plants may cause your pot to split
if there is not enough room for the plant to thrive.

• Keep your pots looking their best by cleaning with water. A stiff brush can help to remove dirt and debris.

There are many positives to planting in containers. Here are some of the reasons we love pots so much:

• You can create impressive displays to suit your mood and move pots around with the changing seasons.

• A pot can be added almost anywhere to create an instant garden if space is limited.

• With an array of colours and textures, pots can be tailored to your individual style.

• Size is never an issue with a wide range to suit a variety of trees, plants, shrubs and flowers.

• Plants grown in pots have fewer problems with diseases, pests and weeds.

• They can be used to enhance the appearance of an existing area.

At Mims we offer a wide variety of planters specifically designed for indoor use. This collection is available in a large range of styles, colours and materials to enhance your planting experience and give you home decor inspiration. There is nothing to stop you bringing our outdoor pots inside the home. A combination of pot feet and saucers designed with indoor flooring in mind will help create a reservoir beneath the pot and prevent staining on carpets and marking hard surfaces.
